The Florence City Tour Experience

Florence is unlike any other city in the world, packing some of the most important works of Renaissance art and architecture into a city that covers only 40 square miles. In just a three-hour tour of the magnificent Tuscan capital, you’ll see the very best of Florentine landmarks including some of the world’s most famous Renaissance buildings. With small group sizes, expert guides, and a meticulously planned itinerary, you’ll see Florence at an intimate level rarely experienced by visitors.

The Arno River and Ponte’Vecchio Bridge

The defining geographical feature of Florence is the Arno River, which bisects the old part of the city and is the basis for many historical events. Over centuries, the Arno has both supported and harmed the people of Florence, as it has brought economic activity to the city by boat and damage to the city by flood. The most prominent bridge over the Arno is the Ponte’Vecchio Bridge, built during the Medieval times and still in use today. This bridge is noteworthy for being surrounded on either side by shops held up on stilts; once home to butchers, they are now occupied by jewelers and art dealers.

Mercato Nuovo

Florence is undoubtedly a souvenir hotspot, as visitors come to the city in search of leather goods, Italian silks, and other cultural artifacts. Our tour will take you to the Mercato Nuovo, the famous covered market located in the historic center of Florence. You’ll be in awe of the history of this marketplace as you search for your souvenirs; the stunning Renaissance architecture of this landmark is always overhead as you make your purchases. The Mercato Nuovo is also noteworthy as it is the home of the “Fountain of the Piglet,” a popular photo stop for tourists.

Santa Maria del Fiore

Of course, no tour of Florence would be complete without a visit to the city’s Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. Built over almost 150 years beginning in 1296, this incredible structure is today the head of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Florence. It is notable for its dome and bell tower, which stand tall above the Florentine cityscape and are lit up at night to be visible for miles. The cathedral is located in the Piazza del Duomo and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in combination with Baptistery of St. John.

The tour guide was very good, we were very happy with the tour guide. The only thing that was not ideal was that another couple had a very young child on the tour that would not stop crying. Nothing the guide could have done though. Apart from that we had a great experience and loved seeing Florence

In love with Florence

So glad that we chose to do this tour on our short stay in Florence. We would have missed so many sites if we tried to explore Florence on our own. Our guide was funny and very interesting, he also made sure everyone on tour was getting involved and having a good time. I can very highly recommend this tour
